Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision. Here are some of the common questions we get asked by prospective families about joining our school community.
Does BBIS offer a bilingual curriculum?
We teach in English, right through from Early Education to Grade 12.
What does an international education mean for my child?
An education at BBIS is about so much more than our world-leading International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Your child will make friends with people from across the globe, building invaluable intercultural skills and a broader perspective.
Do you offer after-school care for my child?
BBIS offers an extensive extra-curricular programme after school. However, this programme is voluntary. There is no additional after-school care offered.
Do you offer care during the school holidays?
No. BBIS is closed during the school holidays.
How much German language instruction is there?
In general, students in Grades 1 to 10 spend 160 minutes – or two double periods – each week learning the German language. To help all our students learn at the right pace, we differentiate between native language speakers and different levels of competency.
What are the admission requirements for Early Education?
Students must be at least three years old by September 30 of the enrolment year and must be able to use the restroom independently at the time of admission.
What is the acceptance rate?
We operate on rolling admission and try to admit as many students as our capacity allows.
Is there a guarantee that my child will be admitted to the Primary School if they have been attending your Early Education programme?
Once a student is accepted into BBIS, the school contract continues until graduation unless terminated earlier.
How long do most students attend BBIS?
The average length of time that our students are at BBIS is between four to six years.
Can my child study in Germany with the IB?
Yes, they can. The IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) meets the academic rigour expected of universities around the world, while also offering invaluable experience in community service. The programme, for students aged 16-19, prepares students for life beyond BBIS – and our students are proudly accepted at universities in Germany, across Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as North America and Asia.
